Acupuncture is one of the aspects of traditional Chinese medicine, which is used to treat many diseases. In the seventies, acupuncture was recognized by the WHO (World Health Organization) as an official form of treatment. It can be applied separately or in combination with already prescribed medication. Acupuncture treatment is carried out by inserting fine needles into specific points on the human body.

Origin of Acupuncture

Acupuncture originates from the Far East, historical documents were found in Sri Lanka, China and Japan.
When somebody mentions acupuncture, people commonly think of Chinese acupuncture, which will be discussed here.

Does a person need to be sick in order to start treatment?

No, not at all! Traditional Chinese doctors, and their patients ensure patients are much more engaged in their joint effort in the prevention-than in the treatment. In other words, this means that acupuncture can also be used for the preservation of good health.

Are there people who should not undergo acupuncture?

It should be said that the number of these patients is very small. Basically, acupuncture is nor carried out with:

  • patients who are taking certain medications (strong psychotropic drugs, immunosupressants, etc.).
  • very old and exhausted persons,
  • acute alcoholism,
  • acute poisonings and other.

Surely, your chosen doctor will reach the right decision after the examination and the conversations, and provide you with all the necessary explanations.

What is the application?

  • find enough time.
  • wear simple and comfortable clothes.
  • avoid the use of too heavy makeup, perfume and use of jewelry before leaving for treatment
  • avoid fatigue or lavish meals.

Can acupuncture be dangerous?

Before starting acupuncture treatment, every patient should know that this is the safest form of treatment.
In acupuncture treatment – there are no side effects and it cannot possibly hurt.

I don’t like needles!

Although most people do not like the thought of needles, most patient are “disappointed” with the minimal discomfort that occurs at the moment when the needle is applied!
It should also be noted that there are other forms of stimulation of acupuncture points that are not done with a needle, namely:

  • acupressure
  • moxibustion
  • laser AC
  • microwave AC
  • ultrasound AC
    and other

2 very frequent questions:

1. Does it hurt?

The answer is: No! In order to experience this treatment as a painless one, the patient must pre-select:

a doctor to his taste (and he must have confidence in the chosen doctor). must believe in the acupuncture treatment, just like any other.

If these two previous conditions are fulfilled, my longterm experience confirms that the patient will not experience his their treatment as something unpleasant, painful.

2. How long will the treatment last?

The closest answer to this question can be given during the first examination. Mainly for those who have not had experience with acupuncture, here are some highly generalized data:
Treatment is performed in sessions; one session includes one coming and it usually involves a treatment of 10-15 minutes. If a chronic disease is being treated-one or more curative treatments will most likely be necessary.

One curative treatment includes 10 treatments-which can be carried out every day or less often: for example (2-3 x a week)

Will the cure be permanent?

It all depends on the disease, there are many conditions and diseases which are permanently cured: migraine, nocturia, painful menstruation, etc. the list would be lengthy.

Will I feel relief immediately?

For all conditions associated with pain, the answer is yes.

I have to travel, what will happen with acupuncture?

There are no harmful effects, it is sometimes possible to apply permanent ear needles. In any case, treatment may continue at the first opportunity when the patient comes back.

Do I have to interrupt the current treatment if I want to apply acupuncture?

Your doctor acupuncturist is the only person who will give you answers to your specific case. In a large number of cases, a very satisfactory solution and a very good combination may be found.

Do I have to adhere to a particular diet while coming to acupuncture?

No, but it is good to know that the number of diseases that require changes to the current diet is bigger than we think. More detailed instructions in terms of desirable changes in your diet will be provided by your doctor acupuncturist.

Can serious diseases be cured with acupuncture?

Yes, very successfully!

Since February 2008, we introduced another variant of acupuncture:

(as well as other conditions and diseases)

Catgut embedding is a form of permanent acupuncture. It is a Vietnamese version of acupuncture. It is applied once a month, and its effect lasts for the whole month. It is particularly suitable for people who find it difficult to visit us 2-3 times a week for the classical acupuncture treatment (largely immobile patients or business people who are often on the road, etc.). Catgut embedding is most frequently used in the treatment of obesity and in painful syndromes. Since each disease is specific, please call us to check whether Catgut embedding is good for you.
